PICU
Last weekend and week was rough in the Child Family. It all started last Saturday. I was at work and Gabel took Mackenzie to med-express and found that she had a double ear infection. They gave him an antibiotic and sent him home. He said her lungs sounded clear. A few hours later Mackenzie's breathing became very labored so Gabel took her Children's Hospital. I met him there after work and learned she had pneumonia and was going to be admitted to the hospital. We got to the floor at about 4am and at 6am I noticed she was working alot harder to breathe. The nurse came in about an hour later then the doctor. They were very concerned with how fast she was breathing....about 80 min. For those of you who don't know normal breathing for her age is about 20-30. The doctor she had was fabulous!! He was very attentive and trying his best to come up with a solution to get her better. He tried a several things that didn't work so she got herself a bed in the intensive care unit. She was breathing so fast for a good 36 hrs. She was on oxygen and breathing treatments and came close to having a tube in throat but luckily she got better. She was transferred out of the PICU last Tuesday and came home last Wednesday. We are so grateful for modern medicine and the many prayers on her behalf. She is now on daily breathing treatments and a pill at night to see if this helps her from getting sick again! Hopefully it works!! She is doing well....back to normal!!! Thanks for all the prayers!!!
